The Department of General Surgery observed World Environment Day on 5 June 2026 at the 4th Floor, C Block under the guidance of Dr. Chandrashekar N, Head of the Department. As part of the programme, 18 saplings were distributed free of cost to patients at the time of discharge to encourage tree plantation and environmental conservation.
The event marked the beginning of an ongoing green initiative by the department. Since its launch, nearly 100 saplings have been distributed to discharged patients. Faculty members, postgraduate students, interns, and nursing staff actively participated in creating awareness about protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices.
Patients appreciated the initiative and pledged to nurture the saplings. The department remains committed to continuing this programme as a regular activity in support of environmental sustainability and community welfare.
