In observance of World Blood Donor Day, celebrated globally on 14 June,
Siddaganga Medical College & Research Institute commemorated the occasion on
15 June 2026 by organizing a voluntary blood donation drive. The event was conducted
in line with this year's World Blood Donor Day theme:
"One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.", highlighting the
life-saving impact of voluntary blood donation and the spirit of compassion and
community service.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. S. Sacchidanand, Executive Director,
in the presence of Dr. Paramesh S., Director,
Dr. Shalini M., Principal, and
Dr. Niranjana Murthy B., Medical Superintendent.
The dignitaries emphasized the importance of regular voluntary blood donation,
encouraged students, faculty, and hospital staff to become blood donors,
and shared their personal experiences to inspire participation in this noble cause.
The students from the Medical College and Paramedical College performed role plays
to create awareness among the public with regard to blood donation, its myths,
and facts.
The blood donation camp received an overwhelming response, with
75 units of blood donated by students, faculty, and staff of the
college and hospital. The event reflected the institution's commitment to
humanitarian service and creating awareness about the continuous need for
safe blood donations.
Siddaganga Medical College & Research Institute expresses its heartfelt gratitude
to all the voluntary blood donors whose selfless act will help save countless lives
and strengthen the spirit of humanity.
