Quality Update in Emergency Skills and Training (QUEST 2026)
Pediatric CME & Workshop

The Department of Pediatrics, SMCRI, in association with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Tumakuru Branch and the IAP Pediatric Emergency Medicine Chapter, successfully organized QUEST 2026 – Quality Update in Emergency Skills and Training, a two-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) program and workshop focused on pediatric emergency medicine.
The CME was inaugurated by Dr. Shalini, Principal, SMCRI, in the esteemed presence of Dr. Paramesh, Dean and Medical Director; Dr. Niranjan Murthy, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Ravishankar Marpalli, President, IAP Karnataka; Dr. Venkatachalapathy, Executive Board Member, Central IAP; Dr. Pallavi H, Organising Secretary; Dr. Kumar G. V., Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics; Dr. Arun Kumar G, Academic Coordinator and Coordinator of QUEST 2026; and Dr. Ganashree B, Treasurer, IAP Tumakuru.
The inaugural ceremony emphasized the importance of continuous learning and skill enhancement in pediatric emergency care. The dignitaries appreciated the initiative and encouraged healthcare professionals to update their knowledge and strengthen emergency management skills for improving patient outcomes.
Scientific Program
The scientific program featured expert lectures on contemporary topics, including:
- Septic shock
- Recognition of the sick child
- Pediatric trauma
- Fever with rash
- Medico-legal challenges
- Emergency care of preterm infants
- Decontamination strategies
- Transport of critically ill children
- Acute abdomen
- Status epilepticus
- Approach to the comatosed child
- Adverse events following immunization (AEFI)
- Procedural sedation
- Pediatric airway emergencies
- Acute kidney injury
An interactive case-based panel discussion on pediatric emergencies further enriched the learning experience.
Participation
The CME witnessed enthusiastic participation from pediatricians, postgraduate students, and healthcare professionals from across the state. The sessions were highly interactive and provided practical, evidence-based updates applicable to day-to-day clinical practice.

The program concluded with a valedictory session and certificate distribution, marking the successful completion of QUEST 2026 and reinforcing the commitment to excellence in pediatric emergency care.
