The Department of Psychiatry, in association with the Departments of Physiology, General Medicine and Pharmacology, successfully conducted a CME on “Aging Minds: Changing Medicines” on 30 September 2026 at SMCRI, Tumakuru.
The programme brought together eminent faculty from SMCRI, NIMHANS and Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, highlighting the physiological and pharmacological changes of ageing, geriatric neuropsychiatric care, polypharmacy and rational deprescribing.
A panel discussion, “From Physiology to Prescription,” and an engaging postgraduate quiz added academic value to the programme. The CME reinforced the key principle of geriatric prescribing: “Start low, go slow, and review often.”
The programme fostered meaningful interdepartmental collaboration and evidence-based approaches to safer, patient-centred geriatric care.
